Spain’s largest telecoms company accepts cryptocurrency payments

The largest telecommunications company in Spain is accepting payments in its online store in cryptocurrencies. Telefnica has a partnership with Bit 2 Me, the country's largest local exchange for transactions, enabling it to offer a revolutionary payment method. The new payment method will be offered through its marketplace Tu.com, where users can buy a wide range of products, such as phones and Xiaomi TV sets.

Customers must meet a minimum purchase price between $200 and $500 in order to make a transaction using the payment method.

The company will offer support for Bitcoin, Litecoin,Bitcoin Cash,Ethereum, Ripple, Tether USD TRC 20 token, USD coin, and TRON.

The company automatically converts the cryptocurrencies into euros for merchants to help ease adoption and prevent technical problems.

Spanish airline Vueling, which has a partnership with BitPay, is planning to accept cryptocurrencies in Spain, with soccer team RCD Espanyol accepting payments, and Spanish airline Vueling is able to schedule acceptance of digital currency next year.

There are around 1.1 million people in Spain that have adopted cryptocurrencies, according to the research company TripleA.
