Supreme Court ruling turns back the clock, say experts

After the Supreme Court ruling on Thursday reducing the US Environmental Protection Agency's ability to reduce emissions from power plants, politicians, celebrities and experts took to Twitter to express their reaction to the court's rulings in the past week:

We are facing a greater threat to our future than a changing climate. Today s Supreme Court decision is a major step backward, and President Barack Obama says that we're feeling the impact of climate change.

Mike Bloomberg, UN Special Envoy for Climate Ambition and Solutions, and founder of Bloomberg Media said this decision marks the second time in a week that the Supreme Court has turned back the clock to darker days that have dangerous consequences for public health.

New York Attorney General Letitia James called the decision dangerous and said her office would keep trying to stop these pollutants from threatening our people and planet. The Supreme Court has decided that the Clean Air Act does not allow the government to facilitate clean air, according to Gerry Connolly, a Democrat representing Virginia. This is outrageous on its face. Other Republicans celebrated the Supreme Court decision, including Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Tom Cotton and House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. Rubio said the decision was a long overdue message to reign in federal overreach.

Greene said that it was another big victory for the Supreme Court.
