Tokyo records 2,549 new COVID-19 cases

After registering 2,630 cases on May 28, Japan's capital reported 2,549 COVID 19 infections, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced on May 28.

Of the 2,549 newly infected people, 1,276 had received two COVID 19 vaccine shots, 24 one shot, and 643 were unvaccinated. The vaccine status of 606 was not known.

As of May 28, a total of 1,093 of Tokyo's 7,216 coronaviruses-designated beds were filled, increasing the proportion of beds in use to 15.1%, while 2.0% of beds for severe patients were in use, with 16 out of 804 available beds filled.

There were seven deaths reported on May 28, and total coronavirus deaths in Tokyo stand at 4,489.

The Japanese capital recorded an average of 2,961 over the first week of May. There were 4 new coronaviruses each day, which rose to 4,151. In the second week, 6 declined to 3,564. In the third week, there was 6,016 in the fourth and 3,016 in the third week. In April, Tokyo saw 188,112 new infections for an average of 6,270. 4 cases per day, down from March's 256,738 total cases, or 8,281. On average, 9 per day is spent. In February of this year, the capital saw 416,171 new infections, averaging 14,863. Per day, there are 3 cases.

To date, Tokyo has recorded 1,534, 499 infections, the most among Japan's 47 prefectures.
