U.S. calls for US citizens to leave Afghanistan amid Taliban advance

WASHINGTON, Aug 12 - The United States on Thursday called on U.S. citizens to leave Kabul immediately using available commercial flight options, a notice said on the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan, amid a quick Taliban advance across the country.

Taliban fighters captured the strategic Afghan town of Ghazni on Thursday. These took them to within 150 km of Kabul, the latest in their rapid takeover as the United States withdraw its troops from the country, leaving the Afghan government to fight the Islamist group on its own.
