LONDON Reuters - Britain's Financial Conduct Authority said on Friday that FTX may be offering financial services or products in the UK without its authorisation.
FTX is one of the world's largest criptocurrencies and has raised its profile this year by acting as a white knight and throwing lifelines to digital asset platforms that have faltered as the price of cryptocurrencies has gone up.
The FCA said that almost all firms and individuals offering, promoting or selling financial services or products in the UK have to be authorised or registered by us.
The statement, which had the subject FTX FTX FTX, did not respond to a request for comment on a public holiday, because the firm is not authorized by us and is targeting people in the UK.
Regulators around the world are trying to figure out how to regulate criptocurrency companies. The FCA said in July that global rules are needed to regulate international criptocurrency firms and keep markets clean.
