UN chief in Ukraine to meet President Zelensky

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Ukraine, where he will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Erdogan. The visit comes at the invitation of Volodymyr Zelensky. The three are expected to discuss the July agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain. The security at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which was seized by Russian forces and continues to be the subject of the fighting, will also be the focus of Antonio Guterres meetings in Lviv.

The UN Secretary-General is going to visit Odesa, one of the ports included in the agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products across the Black Sea, and to hold a bilateral meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian forces report they have repulsed a Russian attack in the region of Kherson in Southern Ukraine, while 7 people were killed and 16 wounded during Russian shelling of a residential district of Kharkiv in southern Ukraine. The Ukrainian military command expects to see an escalation of fighting on all fronts in the coming weeks.
