Dehradun Uttarakhand India January 4 ANI Rift in Uttarakhand Congress does not seem to end as former state president Kishore Upadhyay has started meeting the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders ahead of assembly polls, as he is upset with the attitude of Harish Rawat towards him, said a source.
The chairman of the campaign committee, Harish Rawat, is constantly ignoring Upadhyay. According to a source, even after Rawat met Rahul Gandhi, his attitude towards Upadhyay did not improve.
The source said he met Union Minister Prahlad Joshi and Uttarakhand BJP general secretary Arun Kumar in Dehradun on Monday.
Upadhyay is running a movement for the preservation of land, water and forest, according to sources.
Various parties are contacting him to support that movement. Everyone knows that the state Congress is not helping him in the movement. They added that even BJP leaders are ready to support the movement, and they are in connection with him.
Sources close to Upadhyay are not saying whether he will be in Congress or not.
The source said Upadhyay is meeting with the leaders of the Samajwadi Party and Trinamool Congress.
Sources say that Upadhyay, who is close to the Gandhi family, is waiting for the party's high command to interfere in the matter.
After meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Harish Rawat announced on December 24 that he will be leading the Uttarakhand elections as the chairman of the campaign committee.
Rawat met Gandhi two days after he attacked the Congress leadership ahead of assembly polls in Uttarakhand over the lack of cooperation from the state unit.
