AFP BEIJING -- Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Jose Ramos-Horta on Tuesday about his election as the president of Timor-Leste.
Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that the two countries have been deepening their practical cooperation over the past 20 years since China and Timor-Leste established diplomatic ties.
Since China and Timor-Leste established diplomatic relations over the past 20 years, Xi pointed out that the two countries have been continuously deepening their practical cooperation, developing bilateral relations, and bringing tangible benefits to their people, a reflection of countries big and small, treating each other as equals and engaging in win-win cooperation.
Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Timor Leste relations and is ready to work with President Ramos-Horta to bring the cooperative partnership of good-neighborliness, friendship, mutual trust and mutual benefit between the two countries to a new level.
