Visa to open tech hub in Poland

Visa, a US-based financial services firm, is planning to open a global tech and product hub in Poland, it said in a statement.

The hub, which will employ up to 1,500 technology specialists over the next few years, will be the first of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe.

Visa said the centre will focus on developing new products and innovations with the help of local experts. The company said it is increasingly viewed as a source of highly skilled IT personnel.

Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, the Polish prime minister, said the project would help raise Poland's profile as a new technology investment site.

It is very good news that Visa is unique. Experience and know-how has chosen our country from among other potential sites, Morawiecki said.
