## ReNew and JERA to Develop Green Ammonia Facility in India

ReNew Energy Global plc, a company listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange, has partnered with JERA Co., a major power generation company in Japan, to develop a green ammonia production facility in India. This collaboration marks a significant step towards accelerating the clean energy transition in both countries.

The project will be jointly evaluated by ReNew's subsidiary, ReNew E-Fuels Private Limited, and JERA. A joint study will assess the commercial viability of the project, which aims to utilize approximately 500 MW of renewable energy to produce green hydrogen, a key ingredient for green ammonia. The facility is expected to have a production capacity of approximately 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually by 2030.

JERA will have the right to purchase this green ammonia for use in Japan. This collaboration aligns with both companies' commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the clean energy transition.

Sumant Sinha, founder, chairman & CEO of ReNew, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating that it demonstrates their commitment to accelerating the clean energy transition. He believes that green ammonia holds immense potential in reducing carbon emissions and that the project will contribute to a cleaner future and support India's National Green Hydrogen Mission.

Yukio Kani, global CEO & chair of JERA, echoed this sentiment, stating that the joint development agreement represents a significant milestone towards achieving a decarbonized society. He emphasized the importance of sustainability, affordability, and stability in future energy solutions.

This project is not ReNew's first foray into green hydrogen. In 2022, they signed a framework agreement with the Government of Egypt to establish a green hydrogen plant with an investment of $8 billion in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Additionally, ReNew has a joint venture called GH4India Pvt Ltd with state-owned oil company Indian Oil Ltd and manufacturing major L&T to jointly set up a green hydrogen business.
