BJP Candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar Sends Legal Notice to Congress' Shashi Tharoor

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, contesting as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, recently took legal action against his opponent, Shashi Tharoor from the Congress Party. The legal notice was issued in response to statements made by Tharoor on a Malayalam news channel, '24 News,' where he accused Chandrasekhar of engaging in unlawful practices, such as offering money to voters and prominent individuals like parish priests to secure an advantage in the upcoming elections.

The legal notice sent by Chandrasekhar's team emphasized that the allegations made by Tharoor were not only unfounded but were also intended to damage Chandrasekhar's reputation for personal political gain. It also highlighted Tharoor's violation of the Model Code of Conduct by making unverified allegations against Chandrasekhar, which could influence the voters in an unfair manner.

Furthermore, the notice demanded a retraction of all defamatory statements and a public apology from Tharoor to Chandrasekhar through various media outlets. It suggested that the circulation of false accusations by Tharoor's associates and supporters on social media platforms and messaging apps posed a threat to the integrity of the electoral process in Thiruvananthapuram.
