Electronic Component Manufacturers and National Security

Union IT Secretary S Krishnan emphasized the importance of electronic component manufacturers prioritizing national security interests when initiating new projects. He highlighted the government's stance on this matter, urging companies to incorporate security considerations into their design processes.

Krishnan stressed the growing significance of cybersecurity, emphasizing its importance for both individuals and nations. He advocated for a "secure by design" approach, ensuring that security is integrated from the initial design phase of electronic components.

Supply Chain Resilience

Krishnan also underlined the need for a resilient supply chain, unaffected by external factors like geopolitical risks. He cited the example of the semiconductor chip industry, heavily reliant on Taiwan, and the potential disruptions caused by external events. He emphasized the importance of diversifying supply chains and mitigating the impact of geopolitical issues on the economy.

Addressing Climate Change

Krishnan acknowledged climate change as a critical challenge for India, alongside waste management and natural disasters. He mentioned the Ministry of Electronics' collaboration with other departments to minimize the impact of climate change. This includes optimizing production processes to reduce resource consumption and promote sustainability.
