Kremlin Spokesperson Says No Talks Possible, Military Action Continues

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that no conditions currently exist for talks between Russia and Ukraine. He confirmed that Russia's military action in Kyiv continues.

"So far, at this moment, there are no premises for talks because everybody knows full well Ukraine's stance on rejecting any kind of negotiations. So the special military operation continues," Peskov told reporters.

He reiterated President Putin's stance on the matter, stating that Putin has consistently called for a peaceful resolution and has never rejected it. Peskov referenced Putin's recent conversation with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, where Putin expressed this position.

When asked about the possibility of the Istanbul agreement serving as a basis for talks, Peskov maintained that Russia's stance remains consistent.

Russian Strikes Target Ukrainian Power Plants

Amidst the ongoing war, a spokesperson for the pro-Russian underground resistance reported that Russia's overnight strike hit the Burshtyn thermal power plant in the Ivano-Frankovsk Region of western Ukraine.

"Explosions in the Ivano-Frankovsk Region were registered in the town of Burshtyn. The town accommodates the Burshtyn thermal power plant. According to preliminary information, precisely the power plant was hit," the spokesperson said.

The report also mentioned strikes on other Ukrainian cities, including Dnepropetrovsk, Krivoi Rog, and Stryi.

This follows Russia's attack on Ukrainian fuel and energy facilities on April 11th, which the Russian Defence Minister claimed was retaliation for Ukraine's attempts to damage Russian oil and gas industry sites.

The Tripolskaya thermal power plant was reportedly destroyed in the April 11th strike.
