AAP Claims Election Commission Imposes Ban on Lok Sabha Campaign Song

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made headlines when it accused the Election Commission (EC) of placing a ban on their Lok Sabha campaign song titled 'Jail ke jawab mein hum vote denge', citing that it reflects poorly on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the central investigation agencies. Despite this claim, the EC did not promptly respond to the allegations raised by the AAP regarding the ban on their campaign song.

During a press conference, Atishi, a prominent leader within the AAP and also a Delhi government minister, expressed her discontent with the EC's decision, arguing that it is unprecedented for a party's campaign song to face such restrictions. Atishi emphasized that according to the EC, the song supposedly casts a negative light on the ruling party and investigation agencies, even though it does not explicitly mention the BJP and adheres to the rules outlined in the Model Code of Conduct. She further accused the EC of failing to address violations of the poll code by the BJP while targeting opposition parties like the AAP.

to take action against any violations committed by the BJP rather than interfering with the campaigns of opposition parties, as she highlighted concerns about the threat to democracy when criticisms of the ruling party are stifled.
