Congress Appoints Devender Yadav as Interim Chief of Delhi Unit

A Congress supporter was seen waving the party's flag outside a joint press conference held by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav in Ghaziabad. This event marked the appointment of Devender Yadav as the interim chief of the Delhi unit, succeeding Arvinder Singh Lovely, who stepped down due to his dissatisfaction with the alliance with AAP and the restrictions placed on decision-making within the party.

Yadav, who also serves as the All India Congress Committee's (AICC) Punjab in-charge, expressed his gratitude towards Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and other senior leaders for placing their trust in him. He assured his dedication to uphold the party's vision and work tirelessly in his new role. Additionally, Congress leader Ajay Maken endorsed Yadav for the position, emphasizing his suitability for the role and wishing him success.

In his resignation letter, Arvinder Singh Lovely highlighted his frustrations with the limitations imposed on his role as the DPCC President, pointing out the unilateral decisions made by the AICC's Delhi in-charge, Deepak Babaria. Lovely expressed concerns over the lack of autonomy in making key appointments and decisions within the organization. Moreover, he criticized the party's alliance with AAP and certain candidate selections, questioning the party's decision-making processes and its alignment with party principles.
