Klisura Remembers the April Uprising with Historical Reenactment

The 148th anniversary of the April Uprising, a pivotal moment in Bulgaria's fight for liberation from Ottoman rule, will be commemorated today with a reenactment in the town of Klisura. Members of the "Tradition" association, clad in original costumes and armed with authentic old weapons, will bring to life the historical events.

The reenactment will unfold in three parts, each taking place at significant locations. The first part will occur on the square where the uprising was proclaimed. The second part will take place at the old church "St. Nicholas," from where the insurgents embarked on their journey to the heights of the Zli dol area. The third and final part will be at the location where the first cherry cannon was fired, marking the commencement of the uprising.

This tradition of reenacting the historical events in Klisura dates back to 1896, serving as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made in the struggle for freedom.
