Delhi Government Issues Directive to Schools Following Hoax Bomb Threats

In response to a series of hoax bomb threats targeting schools in Delhi-NCR, the Delhi government issued a directive on Wednesday, urging schools to remain vigilant and ensure the timely monitoring of emails received at their official addresses.

The advisory, issued by the Directorate of Education, GNCT Delhi, specifically instructed school administrators, managers, and heads of government, government-aided, and unaided recognized schools to ensure that emails and messages received on their official email IDs are checked promptly, regardless of the time of day.

Furthermore, the directive mandated that any suspicious or concerning content identified in the emails should be immediately reported to district education officials and the Delhi Police for appropriate action. The advisory also emphasized the importance of informing parents and law enforcement authorities in a timely manner about any potential threats or challenges to ensure the safety and security of students.

This directive comes after at least 100 schools in Delhi and neighboring Noida received identical bomb threats via email, causing widespread panic among students, parents, and school authorities. Several schools initiated mass evacuations and conducted extensive searches of their premises in response to the threats. Fortunately, police investigations revealed the threats to be false alarms, as no suspicious or objectionable items were discovered during the searches.
