Pragya Misra Joins OpenAI as Public Policy & Partnerships Lead

Pragya Misra, OpenAI's latest addition as the Public Policy & Partnerships Lead, shared her excitement on social media about joining the company to support its core values of safety, transparency, and human-centric innovation. Her experience includes roles at Truecaller AB and Meta Platforms Inc., where she worked closely with government ministries, stakeholders, and media partners. Prior to Truecaller, Misra was involved in leading WhatsApp's campaign against misinformation in 2018 and held positions at Ernst & Young and the Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi.

Educationally, Misra holds an MBA from the International Management Institute and is a commerce graduate from Delhi University. She also completed a Diploma in Bargaining and Negotiations from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Additionally, Misra is known for her involvement in international golf tournaments and as a Heartfulness Meditation Trainer, along with hosting the Pragyaan Podcast.

OpenAI's decision to bring Misra on board is viewed as a strategic move to strengthen its presence in India's tech market, especially in the face of competition from Google's AI model. Misra is slated to start her new role at OpenAI by the end of the month. Furthermore, OpenAI recently introduced an upgrade to its ChatGPT system called Memory, allowing the system to retain queries and tailored modifications more permanently. Initially available to select users, Memory is now extended to subscribers of ChatGPT Plus outside of Europe or Korea.

The narrative also includes a mention of a former bartender earning a substantial income working in AI without a college degree, showcasing alternative pathways to success in the industry.
