Emily Kenter, a young designer from Moe, Victoria, has always had a passion for fashion. Despite not having a university degree, she has successfully created her own shoe label, Heel Society.
Emily's journey began with experimenting with outfits and fashion accessories as a child. She worked two after-school jobs as a teenager to learn about the fashion industry. At 26, she decided to take the plunge and create her own shoe label.
Despite facing challenges and making mistakes along the way, Emily persevered. She worked closely with suppliers to ensure her products were manufactured in Australia. Her first collection showcased at the Gold Coast Fashion Week in May 2023, catching the eye of US clothing store ELJ Avenue.
Emily's designs were then requested for collaboration at Paris Fashion Week, a significant achievement for the young designer. She credits her success to the power of social media and networking.
Emily is now working towards New York Fashion Week in September and Milan Fashion Week in two years. She encourages aspiring designers to pursue their passion and not be afraid to take risks.
