West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Vows to Block Implementation of CAA, NRC, and UCC

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a strong statement on April 11, rejecting the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC), and Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in West Bengal. Speaking at a gathering in Kolkata, she cautioned the audience against potential attempts to stir up violence and called for unity to prevent any harm to the state's residents. Banerjee emphasized her party's opposition to the BJP, urging voters to support her party and ensure that their votes stay within the TMC.

Accompanied by her nephew and TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee at the Eid gathering, Mamata Banerjee criticized the central government, accusing it of using investigative agencies against opposition parties. She highlighted the interconnection between the CAA and NRC, stressing her reluctance to allow the establishment of detention camps in West Bengal similar to those existing in Assam. Banerjee's firm stance against the controversial legislation reflects her commitment to safeguarding the state's interests and standing against what she perceives as potential threats to communal harmony and individual rights.
