Police Bust Two Adulterated Spice Manufacturing Units in Delhi

Two manufacturing units allegedly producing and selling adulterated Indian spices under the guise of popular brands were busted in Delhi's Karawal Nagar area. Police arrested three individuals involved in the operation and seized 15 tonnes of adulterated spices and raw materials.

The accused, identified as Dilip Singh (46), Sarfaraj (32), and Khurseed Malik (42), were apprehended following a tip-off received by the police. The tip suggested that manufacturers or shopkeepers in northeast Delhi were engaged in the illegal production and sale of adulterated spices.

"We formed a team to investigate the matter and on May 1, our teams got more information about the units that are running in Karawal Nagar area," Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) Rakesh Pawariya said.

Based on the information, police conducted raids at two locations in Karawal Nagar. Dilip and Khursheed were apprehended at the first location. Dilip identified himself as the owner of the manufacturing unit, while Khursheed admitted to being the supplier of the adulterated spices.

Further investigation revealed another processing unit operating on Kali Khata Road in Karawal Nagar. A raid at this location led to the arrest of Sarfaraz, who was also involved in the production of adulterated spices.

Police have registered an FIR and are conducting further investigations into the matter. The seizure of 15 tonnes of adulterated spices highlights the seriousness of the issue and the potential health risks associated with consuming such products.
