West Bengal Governor in Sexual Harassment Row, School Recruitment Process Declared Null and Void

West Bengal Governor Faces Allegations and Standoff with TMC

The West Bengal Governor, CV Ananda Bose, is facing allegations of sexual harassment, leading to a standoff with the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). State Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury expressed concern over the allegations, stating that such complaints do not befit the office of the Governor and urged authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Chowdhury also commented on Union Minister Amit Shah's claim regarding the number of seats the BJP intends to win in the Lok Sabha elections. He dismissed the claim, stating that anyone can make such statements and it holds no significance.

Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court has declared all appointments made through the 2016 recruitment process for West Bengal government-sponsored and aided schools null and void. Those involved in the SSC scam are expected to face legal consequences.

Governor Bose has denied the allegations against him, citing Article 361(2) and (3) of the Constitution of India, which protects the President, Governors, and Rajpramukhs from criminal proceedings during their term of office. He has also instructed Raj Bhavan staff to disregard any communication from the police regarding the matter.

West Bengal, which sends 42 MPs to Parliament, is voting in all seven phases of the Lok Sabha elections. Polling for the remaining parliamentary seats will be held on May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.
