Microsoft Expands Data Center Footprint in India with Major Land Acquisition in Hyderabad

Microsoft Acquires Land in Hyderabad for Data Center Expansion

Microsoft has reportedly acquired 48 acres of land in Hyderabad for an estimated Rs 267 crore, according to a report in The Economic Times. This move signals the company's plans to expand its data center footprint in the region.

The land, purchased from Sai Balaji Developers, is located approximately 40 km from Hyderabad city center. Sources claim that Microsoft paid a premium for the property, indicating its commitment to establishing a major data center in the region.

This acquisition adds to Microsoft's existing network of data centers in India, which includes facilities in Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai. The company has been operating in India for over a decade and has established a significant presence in the country.

In addition to data centers, Microsoft also operates an India Development Center in Hyderabad, which serves as its main campus alongside facilities in Bengaluru and Noida. The company has been actively expanding its presence in the Indian market, including increasing its involvement in the flexible office space segment.

This latest land acquisition suggests that Microsoft is bullish on the Indian market and sees significant potential for growth in the data center sector. The company's investment in Hyderabad is expected to create new job opportunities and contribute to the city's economic development.
