Polling Officials Seal EVMs and VVPATs After Third Phase of Lok Sabha Elections in Madhya Pradesh

Voting for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh, encompassing nine parliamentary constituencies, concluded with polling officials sealing the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs). The polling process, which commenced at 7 am and continued until 6 pm as per the schedule set by the Election Commission, saw a voter turnout of 62.28 percent by 5 pm on the polling day.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anupam Rajan addressed the press conference on the polling day, highlighting that the voting for the third phase began smoothly after the mock poll and proceeded peacefully across the state. Rajan also shared that the voter turnout in the first four hours of polling stood at 30.21 percent, showcasing active participation in the electoral process. In comparison to the 2019 general elections, the third phase yielded a higher polling percentage at the same time frame.

The state of Madhya Pradesh is conducting the Lok Sabha elections in four phases, with the fourth phase set to take place on May 13 and the counting of votes scheduled for June 4. With a total of 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, Madhya Pradesh ranks sixth in representation among all states. Out of these constituencies, 10 seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, while the remaining 19 seats are unreserved, reflecting the diverse electoral landscape of the state.
