Congress President Kharge Accuses BJP of Discrepancies in Lok Sabha Elections

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP, accusing them of being an "autocratic regime, drunk with power" and manipulating the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. His remarks came as the third phase of voting for the elections commenced.

In a letter addressed to leaders of parties within the India National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), Kharge expressed concern over discrepancies in the voting data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the first two phases. He also highlighted the non-publication of the registered voters list, raising questions about the credibility of the ECI.

Kharge alleged that the BJP, facing a decline in electoral fortunes, was resorting to desperate measures to cling to power. He pointed to the discrepancies in voter turnout data and delays in its release as potential attempts to manipulate the final results.

"Is it not true that, according to some media reports, the final registered voters' list of the next phases has not been made public? Will the ECI be made answerable for this glaring mismanagement in basics in conducting the elections?" Kharge questioned.

He urged all party leaders to unite against these discrepancies and work towards ensuring the independence and accountability of the Election Commission of India.

"Let us ensure the independence of the Election Commission of India and make it accountable," Kharge concluded.
