Congress Confident of Victory, Accuses BJP of Misusing Power
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh asserted that the party is confident of forming the government at the Centre after the ongoing elections. He claimed that the polling held so far clearly indicates the BJP's decline, stating that the party has been "wiped out" from south India and reduced to half its strength in the rest of the country.
Ramesh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of polarizing voters on religious lines and lying about never engaging in "Hindu-Muslim" politics. He referred to Modi as the "outgoing prime minister" and expressed confidence that the "pandemic of lies" would end after June 4th.
The Congress leader also alleged that the BJP-led government misused investigative agencies like the ED, CBI, and IT Department. He promised that if voted to power, the Congress would revisit the powers granted to these agencies.
Ramesh further accused the BJP government of weakening land acquisition laws to benefit "capitalists." He emphasized that the "INDIA bloc" was formed to protect democracy and the Constitution, and the party is fighting the election to safeguard these vital institutions.
He clarified that the Congress does not advocate for wealth redistribution but rather for inclusive distribution.
