China rejects US criticism of its handling of Ukraine

This unidentified photo shows the building of China's Foreign Ministry. BEIJING-China refuted a US official's remarks that China should learn the right lessons from the situation in Ukraine, including that it can't separate the United States from its allies.

China's position on the Ukraine issue is aboveboard, just, objective and beyond reproach. The US side has a poor track record on relevant issues, according to a Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Zhao Lijian, at a press briefing.

The US side should look at its own affairs in the mirror and manage its own affairs before pointing fingers at others, Zhao said.

He said the comments made by Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman are completely cliches and an old trick to smear and slander China.

He said that China is a promoter of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of international order.
