Grand military parade held in Pyongyang to mark 90th anniversary of Korean People's Army

PYONGYANG A grand military parade was held on Monday night in Kim Il-sung Square in Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Pyongyang, to mark the 90th founding anniversary of the Korean People's Army KPA, according to the Korean Central News Agency.

In a celebration speech, Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, said that the socialist cause will always emerge victoriously in the future, as long as the hearts of all officers and men of the DPRK armed forces are pulsating with the thick blood and precious soul of the revolutionary forerunners.

The DPRK leader called for efforts to fight for the wellbeing and happiness of the people and the eternal glory and victory of the country, according to the KCNA on Tuesday.

Since Kim took power in 2011, Pyongyang has held two military parades at midnight in October 2020 and September 2021.

The KPA predecessor was the Korean People's Revolutionary Army KPRA, founded by late top leader Kim Il-sung on April 25, 1932. The KPRA grew into the KPA, or the regular armed forces, in 1948.
