Trump Jr. speaks before House Capitol attack panel, source says

04.05.2022

WASHINGTON - Donald Trump Jr. testified Tuesday before the House committee investigating last year's attack on the Capitol, a person close to the former president's oldest son told NBC News on Wednesday.

The source said that the discussion was pretty uneventful after Trump Jr. spoke to the panel voluntarily after he was called up for a videoconference for two hours. A spokesman for the committee didn't respond immediately to a request for comment. Trump Jr., through a spokesman, didn't want to say anything.

Politico previously reported on Trump Jr. meeting with the committee.

The lawmakers have been eager to question Trump Jr. about his attempt to press his father through then White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to stop a pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The House committee has already spoken to Trump Jr.'s sister Ivanka Trump, his brother-in- law Jared Kushner and his fiancee Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Since beginning its investigation, the panel has conducted interviews with more than 800 witnesses.
