charred human remains found on second floor of building where fire occurred

On Saturday, charred human remains were found on the second floor of the building in outer Delhi's Mundka area, where a massive fire broke out a day ago, Delhi Fire Service DFS officials said.

The DFS Director Atul Garg said it is believed that an explosion in an AC may have triggered the fire.

So far, twenty-seven people have died in the blaze that ripped through the four-storey building on Friday. The police said that the fire started from the first floor, which houses the office of a CCTV camera and router manufacturing and assembling company.

The owners of the company, Harish Goel and his brother Varun Goel, who were detained earlier in the day, have been arrested, Deputy Commissioner of Police Outer Sameer Sharma said.

On a search operation by our fire fighters, charred human remains were found on the second floor of the building. We can't say if it's the remains of a body or several bodies. Garg said that the fire has been doused, but the cooling and search operations continue.

He said that two fire tenders are present at the spot.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police Outer Sameer Sharma, the owners of the company Harish Goel and Vijay Goel have been arrested in connection with the incident.

An FIR has been registered against them under section 304 punishment for a culpable homicide not amount to murder 308 attempt to commit culpable homicide 120 concealing design to commit an offence punishable with imprisonment and 34 common intention of the Indian Penal Code, he said.

The DCP said all of the floors of the building were being used by the same company.

The owner of the building, Manish Lakra, has been arrested, the police said.

They said search operations are underway.

The identities of all but one of the 12 injured have been ascertained, an official said.

According to a list released by the district magistrate of West Delhi, the injured are Staish 38 Pradeep 36 Ashu 22 Harjeet 23 Nitin 24 Avinash 29 Sandhya 22 Dhanvanti 21 Bimla 43 Ayesha 24 and Mamta 52. The injured were taken to a hospital where they were treated, officials said.

The police said a call about the fire was received at 4.45 pm on Friday, following which they immediately reached the building location, near metro pillar number 545.

They said that the injured were admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital after police broke the windows of the building to rescue people.

The police found that the four-storey building was used for providing office spaces to companies during its initial investigation.

Over 50 employees of the company whose office was located on the first floor were rescued while 27 bodies were found, they said.

Some ambulances were also made available at the spot to provide immediate medical assistance to the rescued victims.
