Biological E. Limited reduces price of its COVID19 vaccine Corbevax

Hyderabad-based vaccine and pharmaceutical firm Biological E. Limited has announced on Monday that it has reduced the price of its COVID 19 vaccine Corbevax from Rs. 840 to Rs. Private vaccine centres receive 250 a dose, inclusive of GST. The price would be Rs for the end user. The dose includes 400 a dose, including taxes and administration charges.

The vaccine's price was Rs. 990 a dose includes taxes and vaccine administration charges.

In an official statement, Biological E. stated that it has lowered the price of its vaccine in order to make it more affordable and to increase the reach to protect the maximum number of children against the disease.

The emergency use authorization EUA for children between 5 and 12 years of age was received by Biological E. Limited within a few weeks. Prior to receiving EUA for vaccination, the company conducted Phase II and III multicentre clinical trials in 624 children aged 5-12 and 12-18.

The firm said that Corbevax is also offered in a single-dose vial, making it more convenient for vaccine administration. This eliminates vaccine wastage, which is a major advantage for private hospitals.

Biological E. noted that the Co-WIN app or the Co-WIN portal for children aged 12 to 17 can be used to book the COVID 19 vaccine Corbevax vaccination slot. Nearly 100 million doses of Corbevax have been provided to children across the country, and 43.9 million doses have been given by Biological E. Limited.

Corbevax is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine for the novel coronaviruses. Biological E. Limited developed Corbevax in collaboration with Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine.
