CCPA issues notices to cab aggregations Ola, Uber for unfair trade practices

20.05.2022

Consumer protection regulator CCPA has issued notices to cab aggregations Ola and Uber for unfair trade practices and violations of consumer rights. We have issued notices to both Ola and Uber. The Central Consumer Protection Authority CCPA Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare said that most of the consumer complaints received last year are related to the deficiency in services and other unfair trade practices.

At a meeting held on May 10 with cab aggregators, the government warned of strict action unless they improve their systems and redress rising consumer complaints.

We told them about the rising consumer complaints against their platforms. We gave them the statistics as well. Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh said after the meeting that they had asked them to improve their system and redress consumer complaints.

Representatives from Ola, Uber, Meru, Rapido and Jugnu attended the meeting.

The authority has 15 days to respond.
