Trump to ban travel restrictions for fully vaccinated foreign nationals

15.10.2021

WASHINGTON Reuters: — The White House will announce for its new public benefit on Friday that it will ban travel restrictions for fully vaccinated foreign nationals at land borders and air travel, according to a White House official.

Curbs on non-essential travelers at land borders have been in place since March 2020 to reduce COVID - 19 pandemic and were first imposed on air travel in China in early 2020 and extended to more than 30 other countries.

In early November, the White House announced that it would remove restrictions at its border crossings and ferry crossings with Canada and Mexico for fully vaccinated foreign nationals. They are identical but not identical to what was announced last month for international air travel.

Unvaccinated visitors are still prohibited from entering the United States from Canada or Mexico at border borders.

On Aug. 9 Canada began allowing fully vaccinated U.S. visitors to participate in essential travel.

The White House announced on 20 September that by early November, the United States would lift restrictions on air travel from 33 countries including China, India, Brazil and most of Europe. At the time, it didn't disclose the date.

The same agency is also saying it would apply vaccination requirements for foreign nationals traveling from all other countries.

S. air travelers will need to show proof of vaccination before boarding a flight and will need to show proof of a recent negative COVID test - 19. Visitors crossing a non-fresco border will not need to show proof of a recent negative COVID - 19 test.
