18.10.2021

MONTREAL - Quebec will have its first all electric ambulances hit the road next year, which will position the province as a leader in electric transportation, provincial Economy Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon announced today.

Demers Ambulances and Lion Electric, two leading vehicles manufacturers in North America, unveiled at a media conference on Monday a new model of their first electrical ambulances 100 percent.

Demers Ambulances President Marc B dard spoke in Beloeil, south of Montreal, alongside Lion Electric president Alain Brunelle where they said the new model was also designed according to the needs expressed by paramedics.

Brunelle explains that they have been developing the new ergonomic ambulances with the help of paramedic feedback over the past five years.

The companies plan to develop 1,500 cars in North America before 2026 before marketing them globally. With financial support from the federal and provincial governments, all programs have evolved to meet specific budget targets.

B Dard said that the new model is not only an energetic revolution, but also a way to give better security for patients and workers.

The Minister of Health Christian Dub said the new ambulance is a small hospital that will provide better and faster care in Quebec throughout the province.
