Hong Kong announces new senior appointments from July 1

HONG KONG The government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has announced a number of senior appointments that will take effect from July 1, many of which will be effective from July 1.

The appointees are seasoned administrative officers with proven leadership and management skills, said Patrick Nip, Secretary for the Civil Service.

Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Eliza Lee, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Eliza Lee will take the post of Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, while Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Communications and Creative Industries Clement Leung will take the post of Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service, according to a government press release.

Permanent Secretary for Food and Health Vivian Lau will be Permanent Secretary for Environment and Ecology Food, while Permanent Secretary for Food and Health Health Thomas Chan will be Permanent Secretary for Health.

Permanent Secretary for Transport and Housing Transport Mable Chan will become Permanent Secretary for Transport and Logistics, and Permanent Secretary for Transport and Housing and Housing Director of Housing Agnes Wong will become Permanent Secretary for Housing Director of Housing.

Permanent Secretary for Environment and Ecology Environment Director of Environmental Protection, Janice Tse, will be Permanent Secretary for the Environment and Ecology Environment Director of Environmental Protection.

Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Joe Wong, will be Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Annie Choi, Permanent Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, will be the Permanent Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry on July 1.

On July 20, her post will be taken over by Celebrations Co-ordination Office Director Eddie Mak as she will have begun pre-retirement leave by then.

Shirley Lam, Permanent Secretary, Chief Executive s Office, will take over the post of Permanent Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs on July 1. Secretary-General of the Chief Executive-elect s Office Daniel Cheng will become Permanent Secretary, Chief Executive's Office on the same day.

According to the press release, Patrick Li will take the position of Permanent Secretary for Security next month.

On July 15th, the Department of Justice s Director of Administration and Development Gracie Foo will become Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, as Roy Tang will go on pre-retirement leave.

In the fourth quarter of this year, Policy Innovation and Co-ordination Office Head Doris Ho will take over the post of Permanent Secretary for Development Planning and Lands.
