TikTok collaborates with Barnes and Nobles to bring books to readers

29.06.2022

TikTok is encouraging its users to log off and read with a BookTok partnership with Barnes and Noble.

The TikTok community of creators who post book recommendations, reviews and discussions has blossomed over the past two years. The popular videos inspired a fresh wave of interest in literature, with retailers like Barnes and Noble creating special displays to feature trending books.

TikTok is partnering with the bookstore company to connect new book releases with the BookTok community. Customers can scan a QR code at Barnes and Noble displays that leads them to a dedicated hub that features videos from popular BookTok creators. The authors of the collaboration include aymansbooks, bookpapi, kendra.reads, kevintnorman, maistorybook and thebooksiveloved.

The community of BookTok has been a driving medium in discovering favorite paperbacks and bringing worthy titles back to the forefront of customers minds, said Michelle Laikowski, head of social media at Barnes and Nobles.

TikTok is urging teens to read new books, and share their thoughts on the app with the BookTokChallenge tag, so that they can read new books while they are at home for the summer. The creators recommended a number of summer reads — like Gabriel Garc a M rquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude and When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill — and encouraged followers to respond with their own recommendations.

The easiest way to travel to new places is by reading a book.
