McLean ruled out of State of Origin final

07.07.2022

Jordan McLean is robbed of the chance to make his State of Origin debut next Wednesday, with the NSW prop ruled out of the series-deciding match because of a hamstring injury.

McLean sustained the injury in a training session, with the Blues confirming this afternoon that he would miss the clash with Queensland at Lang Park.

McLean said in a Blues statement that his career has been full of ups and downs.

I've got used to it, but I thought there might be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

The hardest thing will be telling my family. McLean was due to make his Origin debut after he was named to replace Payne Haas, who was ruled out of the third match because of a shoulder injury.

The Blues are expected to name McLean's replacement this afternoon.

The 30 year-old had been a member of the Blues' extended squad for Origin II in Perth.

The Blues won the State of Origin series with a convincing 44 -- 12 victory in the second match, after the Maroons won the opening 16 -- 10 match in Sydney last month.
