Bulgaria's coalition council adopts governance programme for future cabinet

The coalition council of We Continue the Change Democratic Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Socialist Perty BSP adopted a six-month governance and legislative programme for the future cabinet headed by Assen Vassilev.

A lineup and a composition of the government have not yet been discussed, said the outgoing Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev. When a majority of 121 MPs is secured, this matter will be addressed. Assen Vassilev has until July 8 to fulfill the first cabinet-forming mandate.

The future cabinet is working on social spending as well as block tariffs for electricity and heating and increased social spending. The measures will be introduced with the state budget in 2023. The plan to elect a new National Assembly speaker by July 22 is to have a new Parliament Speaker and pass a bill on anti-mafia commission reform.
