06.08.2022

Sources in the defence establishment said on Saturday that the Indian Army is planning to use 5 G services to boost frontline troops communication services that are essential in a tactical battlefield area.

They said that the Army was the lead service when a joint services study was conducted on implementation of 5 G in armed forces.

The study has been completed and its recommendations are being studied by the three services - Air Force, Navy, Army, and Navy.

They said that the Indian Army will exploit 5 G to support operations in the tactical battlefield area.

They added that the high bandwidth and low latency of 5 G are better suited for critical communication services for front line troops.

On August 1, India's biggest ever auction of telecom spectrum 5 G received a record amount of 1.5 trillion bids, with Mukesh Ambani's Jio cornering nearly half of all airwaves sold with an Rs 88,078 crore bid.
