26-year-old arrested for stealing S$700 in cash from woman in Geylang

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Saturday August 6 after he allegedly stole S $700 in cash from a woman in Geylang.

The police received a report on Aug 4 from a woman who said an unknown man had stolen the money from her along Eunos Road.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had approached the victim and her friend. He allegedly tricked the victim into a check of her personal belongings before fleeing with her money.

The officers from the Bedok Police Division found the man's identity and arrested him on Saturday.

The police said that the man is believed to be involved in another case of theft in Geylang.

The man will be charged on Monday in court. A fine, or both, can be imposed on a person for a period of up to three years.

The police will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law, and will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime, the police said.
