Hong Kong urges enterprises to tap new investment opportunities

The government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Monday encouraged enterprises to leverage Hong Kong's business advantages and platform to tap new investment opportunities, as well as increase their expansion in overseas markets.

The seminar titled Hong Kong - Unparalleled Opportunities to Expand Your Global Business took place at Hefei, part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the establishment of HKSAR, according to a government press release.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said that Hong Kong was able to contribute to the opening up of the mainland under one country, two systems'' under 'one country, two systems'.

Our city provides a major bridge and middleman function for mainland businesses seeking to go global and foreign companies seeking access to the mainland market. He said that Hong Kong's open and international business environment, which includes free movement of goods, information and capital, the common law regime and the rule of law, attracted global investors, as well as companies from all over the world engaged in all kinds of financial and commercial activities.

According to Stephen Phillips, Director-General of Investment Promotion of Invest Hong Kong, the province of Anhui is home to some tremendous businesses with great potential in global markets, he said that Hong Kong can play a powerful catalytic role to help them capture these opportunities and fuel their growth. PHOTO HKSAR GOVT Addressing the seminar, Philip Kung, head of the Investment Promotion Unit of InvestHK in Shanghai, explained how local companies can make use of Hong Kong's business advantages in their overseas expansion plan and introduced the various services of InvestHK to mainland clients.

The Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the People's Government of Anhui Province Fan Zhonghou gave a welcome speech at the seminar in Hefei, encouraging Anhui enterprises to go global via Hong Kong.
