09.08.2022

There is an amber warning for extreme heat covering four days from Thursday to Sunday for parts of England and Wales as another heat wave looms.

The forecaster predicted 35 C in places below the record temperatures of last month, which peaked above 40 C in some spots.

The alert said that the vulnerable are likely to experience adverse health affects and that the wider population could also be affected.

The Met Office warned that delays to travel are possible and there is an increased risk of water accidents and fires as more people visit coasts and beauty spots.

The UK Health Security Agency has issued an amber alert covering southern and central England from noon on Tuesday to 6 pm on Saturday, with experts warning people to look out for those who are older or with existing health conditions, as well as young children.
