Wall Street sinks 150 points, Nasdaq slips 1.19 percent

NEW YORK, New York - U.S. stocks fell Tuesday, with broad-based losses across the board. The technology sector suffered the brunt of the damage.

The Nasdaq Composite lost 150.53 points or 1.19 percent to 32,774. The Standard and Poor's 500 was off 17.59 points o r 0.42 percent at 4,122. The Dow Jones industrials dropped by 58.13 points or 0.18 percent to 32,774. The market is going to be hard to buy equities because everything we're seeing is showing that inflation is having a harder impact on corporate America outlooks, according to Ed Moya, senior market analyst at Oanda.

The U.S. dollar was little changed. The euro was up to 1.0207 by the New York close Tuesday. The British pound was unmoved at 1.2072. The Japanese yen has softened to 135.14. The Swiss franc was up to 0.9539.

The Australian dollar fell to 0.6959. The New Zealand dollar was in a tight range around 0.6284.

The FTSE 100 increased by 0.08 percent in London. Germany's Davis declined by 1.22 percent. The Paris-based CAC 40 fell by 0.55 percent.

The Australian All Ordinaries increased by 19.10 points or 0.26 percent to 7,278. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 fell 249.28 points or 0.88 percent to 27,999. In New Zealand, the S&P NZX 50 increased by 50.67 points or 0.43 percent to 11,753. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng lost 42.33 points or 0.21 percent to 20,003.
