Banks to be closed in some cities starting today
Banks will be closed for six days starting today in some cities due to various festivals, according to the Reserve Bank of India's holiday calendar. All these holidays are covered by the Negotiable Instruments Act. Banks, cooperative banks, and regional banks are shut down on the bank holidays notified by the RBI.
August 11 : Raksha Bandhan
Banks in Ahmedadabad, Bhopal, Dehradun, Jaipur and Shimla will be shut down on account of Raksha Bandhan.
August 12 : Raksha Bandhan
Banks in Lucknow, Kanpur and Kanpur will be shut on August 12 for Rakhi festival.
August 13 : Patriot's Day
August 14: Sunday
All banks are closed on Sundays and the second and last Saturdays.
August 15 : Independence Day - All over India
Banks across the country will be closed on Independence Day on August 15.
August 16: Parsi New Year, Shahenshahi Banks will be closed in Nagpur, Mumbai and Belapur for the Parsi New Year.
