Fugitive couple arrested in Malaysia for allegedly stealing millions

SINGAPORE: The fugitive couple, who were accused of being involved in a luxury goods scam that saw dozens of people lose millions of dollars, has been arrested in Malaysia and handed over to the Singapore Police Force SPF after more than five weeks on the run.

The SPF said on Thursday that they have been working closely with various foreign law enforcement agencies to secure the couple's return to Singapore.

A warrant of arrest was issued against the couple on July 16.

On Wednesday, SPF received information from the Royal Thai Police that the couple may be putting up at a hotel in Johor Bahru.

The SPF sought the help of the Royal Malaysia Police to locate the couple. The warrant of arrest was executed by the Royal Malaysia Police in Johor Bahru on Thursday.

The couple is facing criminal charges of criminal conspiracy to commit cheating and illegal departure from Singapore. They will be charged with indicting in court on Friday.
