Chinese Vice-Premier urges quick containment of COVID-19 cases

ZHAO YINGQUAN XINHUA SANYA Chinese Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan urged for a quick containment of the latest resurgence of COVID 19 cases in South China's Hainan province.

Sun, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made remarks during her inspection in Hainan's coastal resort city of Sanya.

Sun stressed the need to make sure resources are allocated and planned in the province, and taking resolute measures to clear COVID 19 cases among the general public in the shortest time possible.

She called for efforts to speed up the construction of makeshift hospitals, optimize the whole process of nucleic acid testing, and strengthen community-level epidemic prevention and control.

Sun ordered the province to carry out proper risk assessment and strictly implement the prevention and control measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic, as well as the service provided to stranded tourists.

The National Health Commission said yesterday that 623 locally-transmitted confirmed COVID 19 cases were reported on Saturday in the Chinese mainland, of which 494 were in Hainan province.
