Polish prime minister admits households will be affected by rising costs

17.08.2022

Mateusz Morawiecki, the prime minister, has admitted that Polish households will be affected by rising costs of energy, but said part of these costs will be covered by energy companies.

Households will be affected by an increase, but a large part of the increase has already been covered by the Polish state, for example through the law on coal subsidies, according to Morawiecki after a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

The prime minister said energy companies must cover a part of the raise by reducing their demands for higher tariffs.

They can't be left untouched during this crisis, he said.

All households that use coal as their main source of heating have been given one-off subsidies of PLN 3,000 EUR 637.
