Singapore’s national news network (CNA) has undergone undergone a seismic shift

The CNA brand has undergone significant changes over the last 23 years. According to the annual report on the state of digital news, published in June this year, it is now the most trusted news brand in Singapore, from establishing a network of Asian correspondents to revamping its online offerings.

Part of the evolution has been in radio. CNA 938 was first introduced as NewsRadio 938 in 1998 and was renamed as CNA 938 in 2019 and was made available on mobile and online to cater to changing consumption patterns.

Why is audio an important pillar in CNA's journalism offerings?

Nic Newman, a senior research associate at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, said audio is attracting new renewed interest as mobile listening grows and on-demand technology in the car disrupts linear radio listening.
