UNDP in Bosnia and Herzegovina to nominate trees

24.09.2022

In response to the UN Development Program UNDP in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a climate action platform TvojCO 2 invites all nature lovers to nominate trees of special value in order to draw attention to the unique richness of nature in BiH, and pointed out the value of forest conservation in the fight against climate change.

More than half of Bosnia and Herzegovina's territory is covered with rich forests of exceptional diversity, according to the UNDP. Numerous towns and villages are decorated with valuable specimens of trees.

Forests and individual trees play a major role in water purification, landslide prevention and temperature regulation, but they are also related to the spiritual and traditional values of our regions.

Each tree is a world unto itself. There are valuable and old trees throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, some of which are not protected, and their importance is not recognized, as it is emphasized in the press release of UNDP.

The winners will be announced at the end of the public voting period. The TvojCO 2. ba will last from November 1st to December 11 this year. People who nominate the first twenty trees by public vote will receive solar chargers.

UNDP in BiH continues to work to promote nature protection and solutions to the problem of climate change based on nature, good examples from Bosnia and Herzegovina s communities and the ways in which each person, as well as the private and public sectors, can influence the mitigation of climate change.
