This stunning contemporary home in Palos Verdes Estates offers stunning views

26.09.2022

This bright and airy contemporary home offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the Los Angeles coastline, perched on a 30 acre plateau known as New York Hill.

New York Hill is an exclusive little enclave with about 30 homes, said Christie's listing agent Chris Adlam, of Sotheby s International Realty. There is a street to get into it and it is kind of like a lasso. The style and character of the house is very unique for Palos Verdes Estates, and when you combine that with the location and the view, it becomes a very unique property, he said.

The original home was built in 1983 and redone in 2016 by the architecture firm KAA Design Group. They took the house down to nothing and rebuilt it. Adlam said it was straight in front of you. This is a coveted view in the Palos Verdes Estates. You have got ocean, coastline and city lights and it is all completely unobstructed. You can see downtown L.A. and clear all the way up to Malibu. The architectural details include basalt and hardwood floors, pocket sliding glass doors, frameless floor-to ceiling windows that showcase the view, mahogany ceilings and a slate roof. The kitchen has a skylight, an 18 foot-long island, wire-brushed oak veneer cabinetry and Carrara slab countertops.

The house is all on one level, except for a couple of stairs here and there, said Adlam.

He said it would be really challenging to duplicate this house, especially in today's world. It is a very dramatic home. The 7,232 square-foot house has five bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two partial bathrooms. It is situated on a 0.69 acre lot.

Amenities include a pool and spa, a raised outdoor seating area with a fire pit, a three-car garage, three fireplaces, an office, a 2,500-bottle glass wine tower, a gated motor court, a putting green and a koi pond.

There are no streetlights and no stop lights in Palos Verdes Estates, and a quarter of the city is designated parkland and green space, according to Adlam.

It is about a 25-minute drive to Los Angeles International Airport and 45 to downtown L.A.

The listing states that the home is about 15 minutes from the Terranea Resort.
